The Indian Premier League (IPL), a T20 cricket league originated in India, has played a pivotal role in the development of the new talents in Indian cricket. What better we could have asked for?

The IPL is not just a sporting event in India, but it also holds immense opportunities for the rookies to showcase what they have to give India and eventually to world cricket.

Today the structure of IPL is being emulated across all nations. We have the Big Bash League, the Pakistan Super League, the Bangladesh Premier League, the Caribbean Premier League and many more. All these T20 leagues want to replicate the success of the IPL.

Why is IPL the leader in world cricket? The credit should be given to the upper body of Indian Cricket, the BCCI. In 2008, Lalit Modi introduced the concept of the IPL and made sure that his thinking would be converted into reality.

As a result, we witnessed the very first season of IPL in 2008, and the triumphant team was Rajasthan Royals.

The IPL has fascinated international players not just because of money, but also because it gives them the opportunity to play with the most prominent players in world cricket.

The league has been extolled in all corners as it has been nurturing cricketing talents from all over the world.

The IPL is no longer just a sporting event, but a phenomenon that has helped cricket get an identity across non-cricket playing nations. From America to Europe, cricket is no longer a subject of mystery. India is the breeding ground of world-class cricketers, and people from other nations now know that too.

The IPL has helped many players hone their skills, but has also assisted them with their financial needs. It has enabled them in bringing their family’s economic condition to a satisfactory level, thus improving their overall mental makeup.

The IPL has helped newcomers in displaying their talent to the world and cementing their places in the hearts of the people. Glenn Maxwell, Jasprit Bumrah, Khaleel Ahmed are just a few examples of what the league has given to world cricket.

A number of players find their place in their national team after performing well here. The IPL sets the stage for international players to perform and get deployed into their national team.
