Zaheer Khan and Suresh Raina are out there. We are all set for the match between two sides who have been consistent and have been winning matches. Delhi will have the home advantage though. Toss in 10 minutes!

Gujarat Lions (Playing XI): Dwayne Smith, Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina(c), Dinesh Karthik(w), Ishan Kishan, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, James Faulkner, Praveen Kumar, Dhawal Kulkarni, Pravin Tambe

Delhi Daredevils (Playing XI): Quinton de Kock(w), Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Jean-Paul Duminy, Pawan Negi, Chris Morris, Amit Mishra, Zaheer Khan(c), Shahbaz Nadeem, Imran Tahir

Raina: "We practiced last evening. It's (the pitch) not going to change much as Zak said. I think its about taking responsibility in the first 6 overs. Ishan Kishan is in for Jakati and Faulkner in for Finch. Close to 170 will be a good total I reckon. The bowlers have to execute their plans well."

Zaheer: "We gonna bowl first. We are just going with the trend. We all know how threatening they can be and hence we are going with an extra spinner. They have an extra left-hander and that's because we have 3 spinners in our side. Nadeem and Pant come in for Shami and Iyer. As I spoke about specific plans, that's part of it."

Two teams who have had a near perfect tournament so far will lock horns at the Feroz Shah Stadium in the 23rd match of the Indian Premier League. Both Delhi Daredevils and Gujarat Lions have played exceptional cricket and barring one game they have been on top in all their other encounters. They will now look to bolster their grip at the top of the table. Gujarat Lions are currently in the second spot while the Delhi Daredevils are placed third. On paper both teams are equally matched and it will all boil down to who executes the plan better on the field. DELHI DAREDEVILS:They got off to a horror start against Kolkata Knight Riders but have bounced back with some aplomb in the following matches and have been a dominant force beating Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. They were squeezed hard in the game against Mumbai but they held on and eventually won the game which is a testament to their character and team belief.

The side is packed with young Indian talent in the batting order and barring Shreyas Iyer, the other batsmen have put up their hands and have put in a performance. Karun Nair was brilliant against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sanju Samson held his own against Mumbai Indians. In Quinton de Kock, they have at their disposal one the brighter sparks of the cricketing world and together they forge a combative unit.

In the bowling department too Delhi are looking strong. Zaheer Khan has rolled back time and is bowling quite beautifully with both the new ball and the old ball. In the match against Mumbai Indians, Zaheer was getting his yorkers in with pin-point accuracy.

Mohammed Shami has made an impressive comeback after the injury and along with Chris Morris forms the nucleus of the seam bowling department.

Amit Mishra has once again been a revelation and is among the top 5 wicket takers in the tournament. His spell against Kings XI Punjab and then against Mumbai Indians was the main reason why Delhi walked away with a win. If Imran Tahir gets in another game, which he should the duo will be more than handful on a slowish Kotla surface.

GUJARAT LIONS: While many are comparing Rising Pune Supergiants with the now banned Chennai Super Kings, the fact that Gujarat boasts of players who formed the crux of the CSK outfit has slipped under the radar. The team has gelled well in the new environment and barring one blip against Sunrisers Hyderabad they have bossed the tournament so far.

They have a dynamic top order and if Aaron Finch continues to be ruled out, the combination of Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum at the top of the order is enough to stamp their authority.

Suresh Raina has been brilliant with his captaincy, and has slowly found rhythm and now he might back himself to dominate proceedings. He has an able guide in Dinesh Karthik who has played sensibly and can be banked upon during crucial phases.

The bowling might not have done themselves proud, but they have quality bowlers at their disposal and in Praveen Kumar, Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja they certainly do have experience in their ranks.

Dale Steyn has been a pale shadow with the white ball and he might just get in a game ahead of James Faulkner, and even this decision shows the rich stocks that the Lions have at their disposal.

PITCH AND WEATHER:

The pitch at the Kotla has been on the slower side as was evident in the match against Mumbai Indians when the spinners suddenly stemmed the flow of runs and almost choked the Mumbai batsmen.

The famous Indian summer is well underway and Delhi is notorious for its heat. The evenings might offer some respite though, and temperatures in the mid-30s touching 40C can be expected.

STAT ATTACK:

Delhi Daredevils have won 4 out of the 13 matches played at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Suresh Raina has not enjoyed the best of runs against Delhi, as he has scored 392 runs against them which is his lowest against any opposition in the IPL.
