Most fifties in India vs New Zealand ODIs

Team India will lock horns with hosts New Zealand in a three-match ODI series later this month. The series will get underway at Eden Park in Auckland on November 25 before moving to Hamilton and Christchurch for the final two games on November 27 & 30 respectively.


On that note, here’s a look at the batsmen with the most fifties in India vs New Zealand ODIs-

Former New Zealand opener Stephen Fleming leads the chart when it comes to scoring the most number of half-centuries in India vs New Zealand ODIs.


The former BlackCaps skipper scored 9 50s against the Indians in 38 innings. However, he couldn't convert either of them into three figure scores.



Following Fleming are a couple of Indian and New Zealand legends- Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson- with 8 50s each.


Kohli and Sachin lead the pack with 13 50+ scores, while Ross Taylor also converted three of his 11 50s into hundreds.



Current New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has scored 8 50s against the Indians, and overall, he has 9 50+ scores in 25 innings.

As mentioned above, the two greatest run-machines of Indian cricket- Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli- have ruled the roost against New Zealand in the ODI format.



Both Virat and Sachin have 8 50s against New Zealand in 26 and 41 innings respectively. Overall, both batsmen have 13 50+ scores against the BlackCaps.



The next three spots belong to Ajay Jadeja, Mohammad Azharuddin and MS Dhoni, all of whom scored 7 half-centuries each.



In-fact, Dhoni scored a half-century in what proved to be his last international appearance- vs New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup semi-final.

Former left-handed opener Stephen Fleming holds the record for scoring most number of half-centuries for the BlackCaps in India v New Zealand ODIs.


The southpaw racked up as many as 9 50s in 38 innings against India. He is followed by the duo of Ross Taylor and current skipper Kane Williamson, both of whom scored 8 50s apiece.

Veteran opener Martin Guptill is 4th on the list with 6 50s, while the 5th spot is occupied by former opener, Nathan Astle (5).



Overall, Astle breached the 50-run mark 10 times against India in ODIs, and he converted 5 of those into 100s- the most by any New Zealand batsman.
