Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Vivrant Sharma announced himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a sublime knock in their last fixture of the league stage against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, May 21, at the Wankhede Stadium.

Playing on his debut IPL innings, Vivrant displayed pure intent with the bat while opening the innings with Mayank Agarwal after SRH were put into bat first. Vivrant Sharma scored 69 runs in 47 balls, hammering nine boundaries and a couple of sixes, at a strike rate of 146.81.

The left-handed batter took his chances against the experienced MI spinner Piyush Chawla, belting two boundaries and a six in the middle. He later hammered consecutive boundaries off Chris Jordan before taking a single to complete his maiden IPL fifty at the halfway mark.

Vivrant Sharma was involved in an incredible 140-run opening partnership with Mayank Agarwal (83 off 46 balls) before they were separated in the 14th over.

Mumbai Indians pacer Akash Madhwal bowled a short ball to Vivrant as the SRH opener found a top edge while attempting to pull, and was caught by the substitute fielder Ramandeep Singh at deep mid-wicket.

Fans were delighted to watch the Jammu and Kashmir youngster play a noteworthy innings, although the opportunity to bat came too late in the season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to capitalize on the excellent opening stand provided by Vivrant and Mayank Agarwal. The scoring dipped in the last four overs, particularly after Agarwal's dismissal.

Akash Madhwal bowled in great areas to curb the runs as the MI pacer finished with 4 for 37 from his four overs. He claimed the wickets of Vivrant, Agarwal, Heinrich Klaasen, and Harry Brook.

SRH captain Aiden Markram slammed over deep mid-wicket for a six on the final ball of the innings bowled by Chris Jordan. The visitors exactly posted 200/5 after 20 overs.
