Punjab Kings (PBKS) spinner Yuzvendra Chahal penned down an emotional note following the IPL 2025 final. The Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab suffered a heartbreaking six-run defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the summit clash at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Tuesday, June 3.
Chahal emphasized that Punjab were hungry for the title as he promised to cross the final frontier in the next season. He thanked his teammates, support staff, and the PBKS fans for their unwavering support throughout the IPL 2025 campaign.
The ace leg spinner wrote on Instagram on June 6:
"This IPL season has been such an amazing experience. This team is full of grit, passion and unwavering sportsmanship and we showcased the same on the field. The hunger continues and we will conquer this battle and this war next year for sure.
"Special thanks to my teammates and my humble gratitude to the management and each member of the support staff. A big thank you to the punjab fans for your amazing support throughout the tournament."
Yuzvendra Chahal became the most expensive spinner in the auction's history after being roped in by Punjab for a whopping ₹18 crore. He picked up 16 wickets across 13 innings at an economy rate of 9.55.
The highlight of his season was a hat-trick against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the league stage. The 34-year-old missed three matches towards the back end due to a wrist injury but was back in the playing XI for Qualifier 2 and Final.

Shreyas Iyer won the toss for PBKS and chose to field first. RCB registered 190/9 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored 43 runs off 35 balls. Meanwhile, the likes of Rajat Patidar (26 off 16), Liam Livingstone (25 off 15), and Jitesh Sharma (24 off 10) chipped in with useful cameos.
Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a decent spell in the all-important fixture. He conceded 37 runs from his four overs and picked up the wicket of Mayank Agarwal. Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson bagged three wickets each.
Shashank Singh was the top performer with the bat for PBKS in the run chase, remaining unbeaten on 61 runs in 30 deliveries. However, his half-century went in vain as his side ultimately finished 184/7 after 20 overs.
Krunal Pandya was adjudged the Player of the Match for his fantastic bowling exploits. The left-arm spinner dismissed Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis, while giving just 17 runs from his four overs.
