A hard-hitting batsman from Mumbai, Sarfaraz Khan shot to the limelight through his whirlwind exploits for India in the 2014 U19 World Cup, where he smashed 211 runs in six outings @ 70.33/105.5. An IPL call was inevitable, and he was soon acquired by the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2015 season for INR 50 Lakhs.

Sarfaraz made his debut against the Chennai Super Kings on 22nd April 2015, thereby becoming the youngest player (17 years & 177 days) to feature in the competition at the time. He showed immediate impact when he hammered an unbeaten 21-ball 45 against Rajasthan, which even forced Kohli to bow down to the brilliance of the youngster.

That said, Sarfaraz struggled for consistent game time at RCB in the next two seasons, and whenever he did get a chance, he couldn't capitalize on it. He played just 5 games (66 runs in 4 innings) in 2016 before missing the 2017 edition due to injury. RCB regained Khan for INR 3 Crores in the 2018 mega auction but the right-hander failed to live up to his billing, managing just 51 runs in 6 innings.

Sarfaraz found a new home in the Punjab Kings in 2019, but once again, he failed to impress and was released by the franchise ahead of the 2022 mega-auction. His extraordinary form in First-Class cricket made him impossible to ignore for the franchises, and in 2022, it was the Delhi Capitals, which welcomed him with open arms.

However, he could only manage 91 runs in 5 outings @ 30.33/135.82. Sarfaraz was released by the Delhi Capitals after not featuring in the IPL 2023 and the Mumbai batter did not see any takers in the IPL 2024 auction as he went unsold.
