Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians and represents the Indian cricket team. He was born on September 14, 1990, in Mumbai.


Suryakumar Yadav bats right-handed and is a middle-order hitter. He plays in the ODI and T20I leagues in India. In November 2022, he made history by becoming the second player from India to score two centuries in T20I in a single year. He is now ranked No. 1 in the ICC T20I batsman rankings


Surya's unorthodox batting style is known for covering all of the wagon wheel's shots. He is informally known as Mr.360 of India in today’s era, while the original being AB de Villiers. He has a track record of hitting the ball on the fine-leg side and behind the square. His batting approach has developed into the new norm for how T20 matches are played today

Surya had his IPL debut in 2011 for MI. He played just one game for Mumbai Indians in 2012 but did not get the opportunity to bat there. He got his breakthrough in KKR under Gautam Gambhir but didn't perform up to that level in the middle order, scoring 684 runs in four seasons and having breached the 50-run mark on just one occasion.


2018 saw him return to the Mumbai Indians, where he made massive strides in both his IPL career and international cricket. He has been an integral part of the team since and has been retained in the 2022 Mega Auction as the fourth retainer.

Suryakumar Yadav IPL Auction Price

Suryakumar Yadav was purchased by Mumbai Indians for just 10 Lakh rupees in the 2011 IPL mega auction. In the 2014 IPL auction, Suryakumar was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for a price of INR 70 lakhs. He was released from the franchise ahead of the 2018 mega auction.


Mumbai Indians won the bid at INR 3.20 crore for the local lad in the 2018 auction. He was the fourth-choice player retained by the franchise in the 2022 IPL players's retention list just before another mega auction. Ahead of the 2022 IPL mega auction, Surya was retained for a whopping amount of 8 cr. He has been retained for the same amount for the 2024 IPL season.
