Fernando Alonso Diaz, born on July 29, 1981, in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain, is a Spanish racing driver competing in Formula One for Aston Martin. He started karting at a very young age and went through the ranks of motorsport very quickly. He debuted in Formula One for Minardi in 2001 and later joined Renault, where he won two successive World Drivers' Championships in 2005 and 2006, becoming the then-youngest double champion. He has had a long racing career and has competed for most top teams such as McLaren, Ferrari, and Alpine (formerly Renault).

Besides Formula One, Alonso is a winner in endurance racing; he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice (2018 and 2019) and the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2018–2019. In addition, he ran at the Indianapolis 500 and even took part in the Dakar Rally, showing he is adaptable to any branch of motorsport. So far, in the 2024 Formula One season that started on December 2, Alonso has participated in 21 races with a best finishing position of 5th at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. With 62 points, Alonso is ninth in the standings of the Drivers' Championship. So far, this season has seen him register 12 top-ten finishes, which proves that Aston Martin has not lost out anywhere. Notably, Alonso's career has spanned over two decades with 399 Grand Prix starts, 32 race wins, 22 pole positions, and 106 podium finishes.
