Womens World Cup 2019

The world will witness the biggest event of women’s football from 7th June to 7th July 2019, the FIFA Womens World Cup 2019. The 31 days extravaganza includes 24 nations competing to win the world cup and to be on top of the FIFA Womens World Rankings.

France, the host nation will put in everything to bring home the prestigious honour and the title of world champions. Not only it'll be a huge World Cup for title favourites and defending champions like US Womens Soccer Team but also for first-time qualifiers like Jamaica and South Africa.

Jamaica has become the first team from the Caribbean to qualify for the World Cup and their comeback story is an inspiration for other small footballing countries to step up.This will also be the first Women’s World Cup to feature Video Assistant Referee, better known as VAR.

Players To Look Out For

Almuth Schult, the goalkeeper from Germany is widely regarded as one of the favourites to win the golden glove. She will be looking to leave a mark as this will be her first World Cup experience.

Daniëlle van de Donk, the playmaker from Netherlands and Arsenal’s Player Of The Year last season, will be looking forward to help her nation repeat their fine performance from Euro 2017, where they had gone on to win the title and also try to be in the top list of FIFA Womens World Rankings

Nikita Parris will be looking to help the three lions(England) lift the trophy with her widely known goal scoring abilities.

For the defending champions, USA, Alex Morgan and Lindsey Horan would have their eyes set on the Golden Boot as well as at winning the World Cup again and reclaiming the prestigious title.

When it comes to women’s football, there is no bigger name than Marta Vieira. This forward from Brazil is one of the biggest footballers of the past two decades. She has been FIFA World Player Of The Year for five consecutive years. She has also scored 15 goals over all the World Cups she has participated in. This is the highest number of goals by any female footballer in the world. She will have her eyes set on the prize and will also be looking forward to adding a few more goals to her kitty.

Impact Of Womens World Cup On the FIFA Womens World Rankings

The current top spot holders USA are strong favourites to win this year’s World Cup. It is highly unlikely that they will lose their 29 point lead at the top of the FIFA Womens World Rankings. As far as a change in the rankings is concerned, the home team France with a huge crowd to back them up will definitely be looking forward to moving up in the rankings. They are currently six points behind England.

Australia will be looking to burst into the top 5 of the FIFA Womens world rankings. Canada, presently in the 5th spot has a slim 3 point lead over Australia which it will be looking to increase over this world cup. With almost no time left now for the Women’s World Cup to begin, each and every football fan is bound to be excited and exhilarated for what’s in store.
