Aaron Rai is an English professional golfer, born on March 3, 1995. He turned professional in 2012 and initially placed on the PGA EuroPro Tour, having his first professional win at the 2015 Glenfarclas Open. In the latter year, he advanced to the Challenge Tour and went on to win three more events in 2017. He joined the European Tour in 2018 and the PGA Tour in 2023.

Rai has a total of seven professional wins, including the 2020 Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open (now Genesis Scottish Open) and the Honma Hong Kong Open on the European Tour. However, his most recent win was at the 2024 Wyndham Championship, defeating Max Greyserman by two shots on the PGA Tour.

Who is Aaron Rai’s Caddie?

Aaron Rai’s caddie is Jason Timmis, as of August 2024.

Before he began caddying, Timmis was a seasoned player who began his career at Stoke-on-Trent's Greenway Hall. After lowering his handicap to plus-three, he was able to obtain a scholarship to play at Texas and Oklahoma universities, after which he decided to go back to the UK and become a professional and so he competed on the EuroPro and many mini-tours. (as per Golf Monthly)

Remarkably, Timmis completed the European Tour Q School all the way to the end and earned some Challenge and European Tour starts. But after turning pro for five years, he returned to coaching at Greenway and caddied for Gian Marco Petrozzi.

Timmis had previously competed with Rai in a few EuroPro events. However, their working relationship solidified when Rai qualified for the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship. Further, Timmis caddied for Rai in a number of notable events, including the BMW PGA Championship and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

At the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews, where Rai was the second reserve, and following Erik van Rooyen's withdrawal, Rai learned at 10 a.m. on the opening day of the Major that he would be playing. The Englishman had traveled up to the event on Wednesday evening and spent the night in Timmis' campervan. Also, at the 2023 Players Championship, on the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass, Rai made a hole-in-one to great fanfare, marking another memorable moment between the two. (as per Golf Monthly)

Rai said at the 2024 Wyndham Championship that he turned to his caddie on the final hole, who advised him to focus only on playing a decent hole. Rai remarked, "He knows me pretty well," and so, Rai sealed the victory with an 8-foot birdie putt, as per the PGA Tour official website.
