The BMW Championship has raised over $45 million for the Evans Scholars Foundation, a charity supporting young people in achieving their college dreams.

What is the BMW Championship Trophy like?

The BMW Championship trophy is a distinguished symbol of achievement in professional golf. Crafted from premium materials like sterling silver, its design exudes contemporary elegance, often incorporating subtle automotive-inspired motifs reflective of its sponsor, BMW. The trophy's form is characterised by sleek lines and a polished finish, captivating attention.

Engravings and plaques are on its front surface, detailing the tournament's name, the year of victory, and the champion's name. Mounted on a solid base, typically crafted from contrasting materials such as wood or marble, the trophy commands a presence that befits its significance in the golfing world.

BMW Championship Format

The BMW Championship format is the stroke play and it is designed to whittle the field of golfers competing for the FedEx Cup championship. The following is the format the tournament follows:

Eligibility: Only the top 50 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings after the first playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship, qualify for the BMW Championship.

No Cut: Due to the limited field, there's no cut after the first two rounds. All 50 golfers play all four rounds.

Stroke Play: The golfers compete in a traditional stroke play format throughout the four days. The golfer with the lowest cumulative score at the end wins the BMW Championship title.

FedEx Cup Seeding: However, the main purpose of the BMW Championship is to determine who advances to the final FedEx Cup Playoffs event, the Tour Championship. After the BMW Championship, the top 30 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings qualify for the Tour Championship.

In essence, the BMW Championship adds pressure and competition as golfers fight not only for the BMW Championship title but also for a coveted spot at the season-ending Tour Championship, where the FedEx Cup champion is crowned.
