The PGA Tour Champions is a branch of the PGA Tour for golfers at or above the age of 50. The concept for such a tour originated with the 1978 Legends of Golf tournament in Austin, Texas, which became well-known due to the participation of renowned senior golfers. As a result, the tour was founded in 1980 and was then known as the Senior PGA Tour.

The PGA Tour Champions hosts five major championships, including the Senior PGA Championship, which was the exclusive event for senior golfers before 1980. Other being the Regions Tradition, the Kaulig Companies Championship, the U.S. Senior Open and the Senior Open Championship. All five majors are played in a 72-hole stroke-play format, with the remainder of the events being 54 holes with no cut.
