The Memorial Tournament is held yearly at the Dublin, Ohio, suburb of Muirfield Village Golf Club, which is close to Columbus. The three objectives of the Jack Nicklaus-founded and hosted Tournament are as follows: to pay tribute to those who have made significant contributions to the game of golf, both alive and deceased; to entertain spectators with the world's best golfers competing on one of the most challenging courses in the world; and to support numerous Greater Columbus Charities in partnership with the Nicklaus Children's Healthcare Foundation, Nationwide Children's Hospital, Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, and countless other local organisations.
The Memorial Tournament Honorees
Every year, the Memorial Tournament honours a deceased or living individual who has significantly contributed to the game of golf.
Jack Nicklaus came up with this concept to help preserve the accomplishments of the greatest players in history. The Captains Club, a group of distinguished individuals who operate independently of the tournament organisers but provide guidance on player invitations and event management in general, chooses the honoree.
