The PGA Championship is a major golf event with a history of numerous talented champions. Walter Hagen and Jack Nicklaus have won the competition five times each, with Hagen holding the record for most consecutive wins in match play. Tiger Woods has won the PGA Championship four times. Phil Mickelson is the oldest winner, aged 50. On the other hand, Gene Sarazen is the youngest, aged 20. Jason Day holds the record for most strokes under par for 72 holes, at 20, winning the 2015 PGA Championship.

The 2023 PGA Championship was the 105th PGA Championship, held on May 18-21 at Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford, New York. The course underwent significant renovations in 2019, including the removal of trees and the rebuilding of greens with bentgrass. Brooks Koepka won his third career PGA Championship in this edition and fifth major championship by two shots, joining Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as the only players to win three PGA titles in the stroke-play era. Koepka also became the first golfer to win a major golf championship as a member of LIV Golf.

Golf Player who won PGA Championship on the same course twice

Tiger Woods is the only player to win the PGA Championship on the same course twice. In 1999, Woods won his first PGA Championship title, which was the 81st PGA Championship held at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. He defeated Sergio Gracia with a margin of one stroke and a winning score of 277.

Later in 2006, he again came into the spotlight after winning his third PGA Championship title which was held in the same venue as of 1999. This was the 88th PGA Championship in which Woods was five shots ahead of Shawn Michael. His overall winning score was 270 in the tournament. Woods won the handsome cut of $1.224 million from the purse of $6.8 million. This was his third PGA Championship title.

His second win was in 1998, which was held at the Vallah Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. It was the second time for the PGA Championship to be hosted in the same venue. Earlier, it was hosted here in 1996. Woods, again with his same dedication and expertise, claimed the title in a three-hole playoff against Bob May. With this win, Woods marked history by winning three major championships in the same calendar year since 1953. He has won the US Open and the British Open in the previous two months of the same year.

Woods turned professional in 1996 at the age of 20. In the same year, he was named Sportsman of the Year and PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. Tiger Woods debuted in the PGA Championship in the year 1997 and reached T29 in the tournament.

In 2007, which was the 89th PGA Championship, Woods again showed his incredible performance in the tournament and claimed his fourth PGA Championship title. It was held at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was two strikes ahead of Woody Austin with the winning score of 272 in the tournament. He received the amount of $1.260 million as the winner's token money in the tournament.
