World Wide Technology Championship Purse History

In its nearly 20-year history, the World Wide Technology Championship has only had two sponsors: Mayakoba and World Wide Technology. Mayakoba, a real estate and luxury travel company, sponsored the inaugural event in 2007. It was then known as the Mayakoba Golf Classic, with a $3.5 million purse and a $630,000 winner's share. It remained unchanged for six years before being renamed the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in 2013, with a purse of $6 million and a winner's share of $1.08 million.

The purse for the 2016 event increased significantly from $6.2 million to $7 million, a $800,000 increase over 2015. In 2018, it retained its previous name, while the purse increased by $100,000 per season. The next significant shift in the payout occurred in 2022, when it increased from $7.2 million in 2021 to $8.2 million with a winner's share of $1.47 million, making it the greatest purse of the event. It remained unchanged in 2023 but was reduced to $7.2 million in 2024, with the winner receiving $1.29 million.
