02:06 AM IST: That was a long day folks. We are past 2 in the morning but everyone was up to witness a fascinating game of cricket. Finally a new winner awaits us on Tuesday. Punjab Kings led by Shreyas Iyer qualified for their maiden final after 11 years and will be dreaming of lifting their first IPL title. It will be a dream come true for one team. Meanwhile for the first time, Mumbai Indians failed to defend a score of 200 or more so it shows how good the run chase was. It was a long day for us at the commentary box as well. It's time to take your leave as myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) sign off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Sooryanarayan Sesha. Goodnight fellas!

Shreyas Iyer is the Player of the Match: I love such big occasions and I always say that bigger the vision, the calmer you are. I was focussing on my breathing. No as I mentioned before the game, everyone needs to be assertive and needs to show the intent. It was stupendous and everyone was getting the timing going. I took some time to get in. Just throw the hiccup in the bin. One match cannot define as a team. I just let them be, I don't ask too much of them. I love their fearless attitude and love their ideas. On such big occasions, it's important to gain more experience from these. To be honest I wasn't thinking of which franchise I was going. I was looking for a positive environment and I have been provided that. I am living the moment, rejuvenate, relax and celebrate a bit before tomorrow’s game. Maybe get a massage. Yes I was in my zone after the match.

Hardik Pandya was in tears after that last ball. Completely dejected, but there was a heartwarming picture of Suryakumar Yadav trying to pep him up. Pandya had been through a lot last year. But alas, his redemption in the IPL has to wait. MI have had a fine season but their wait for a sixth crown continues.

Nehal Wadhera (Punjab Kings): I just wait for such games. I couldn't be more eager to play such a knock in a semifinal, such a crucial match. It's very close to my heart now. The plan was very simple. I was with Mumbai Indians for two years so I knew all about them and how they would attack me. I changed my batting accordingly today. I discussed with Ricky Ponting in the nets and I'm glad it came off. As for talks with Shreyas, he just told me to play my shots which were in my area. Nothing as such (targeting a specific bowler), if it was in my radar I would go for my shot. I just wanted to convert a boundary ball into a four or a six. (On Shreyas' knock) He's a chase master. The way he batted today was tremendous. There were a lot of learnings from him. I hope we continue this momentum forward and win the game against RCB as well.

Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians captain): (PBKS batted brilliantly?) Yeah especially Shreyas, the way he batted and took his chances - some of the shots he played were really outstanding. They batted really well. I think it was par but it needed some really great execution as a bowling unit which in all these big games, really matters. They were really, really calm and put us under pressure. We were not able to execute the way we wanted. I'll not put it on the wicket. If we had to do something better it was to bowl better lengths and bowl the right ball at the right time. Maybe I could have managed the troops better and the result could have been different. (Did he consider bowling Bumrah ahead of Boult in the 17th over?) In hindsight, it would have been different but we could have left it a bit too early as well. Boom, knowing him, even if 18 balls were left, Jassi can be Jassi and do something special. It just didn't happen today.

An absolute masterclass from Shreyas Iyer has scripted history for the Punjab Kings as they booked a place in the final of the IPL with a sensational victory against the five time champions Mumbai Indians. They were blown away in the previous game at the hands of RCB but they just rose from the ashes to win an absolute thriller against MI.

What a knock from Shreyas Iyer, he will remember this knock for a long long time. The victory of Punjab means, we will get a new IPL winner on Tuesday. A battle of reds and the trend of the first two qualifying teams winning the tournament continues.

The run chase was always going to be a tricky one for the Punjab Kings as the Mumbai Indians had never lost a match before in the IPL after posting 200. However, the score was just par for the course and PBKS will take a lot of confidence after chasing this team. The opening duo of Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya came out with clear intent but Prabhsimran was dismissed early by Trent Boult to push PBKS back.

It was Jasprit Bumrah’s opening over which shifted the momentum towards Punjab as Josh Inglis smashed him for 20 runs, which is one of the rarest of rare sights in world cricket. Ashwani Kumar dismissed Arya immediately in the next over but the momentum was provided. Out came Shreyas Iyer and ended up staying there till the end to take the side over the finishing line.

Hardik Pandya dismissed Inglis at a crucial juncture of the game which turned the game towards MI but the pair of Shreyas and Nehal Wadhera again shifted the momentum towards Punjab. Trent Boult dropped a sitter early in Wadhera’s knock which made a massive difference in the end. The duo plundered the MI attack to all parts of the ground and never really allowed the required rate to climb.

The duo shared a 86 run stand and took PBKS within threshold of the victory target. Shashank Singh was casual in his running which led to his dismissal. However towards the end, Shreyas Iyer played some incredible shots and took side home. He smashed 26 runs off the final over to take his side home with an over to spare.
