An unexpected Minecraft x Sonic collaboration has been announced at Summer Game Fest 2025, leaving the audience and gamers surprised. During the feature presentation for Sonic Racing Crossworlds, creator Takashi Iizuka teased a short gameplay trailer featuring some of the most popular mobs and characters from the sandbox title.

Summer Game Fest 2025 introduced and teased an array of new games, including highly anticipated titles such as Death Stranding 2 and Atomic Heart 2. During the feature presentation for the upcoming Sonic Racing Crossworlds, creator Takashi Iizuka dropped a surprising collaboration with Minecraft, the bestselling sandbox title of all time.

The short clip featured iconic characters like Steve and Alex, as well as mobs like creepers, racing against each other in karts while traveling through tracks and arenas based on iconic locations from Minecraft. It featured signature areas like the Nether, End, and the overworld as well as teasing mobs such as the happy ghast, and more.

Besides the mobs and characters in the kart, the Minecraft x Sonic collaboration clip also showed the ender dragon boss mob passing through the arena. The unique world-building and addition of these mobs add a nice touch of immersion and realism to this unexpected collaboration between these two major universes.

The Minecraft segment of the Sonic Racing Crossworlds will be available on the Season Pass and the Digital Deluxe Edition, with an additional purchase necessary. While the base game releases on September 25, 2025, SEGA has provided no release date for this collaboration. Players will have to wait for an announcement from the developers for further information.
