Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred will bring the powerful Spiritborn class to the action MMO. Admittedly, there are a lot of players who were hoping to see Paladin return, we’re very interested in this new class. A native of the jungles of Nahantu, this combat class can channel the power of several jungle spirits to enhance their abilities in battle. They are both damage dealer and tank, and can easily obliterate the forces of Hell.
When Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred launches on October 8, 2024, the Spiritborn class will be available for all players who own this expansion. In this article, we’ll cover everything we know so far about the class's mechanics and abilities, so that you’re ready to go at launch.
Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred’s Spiritborn focuses on powerful Spirits to aid it
The Spiritborn is Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred’s sixth class and brings with it the power of ethereal spirits with them. There are four spirits, each offering distinct gameplay styles: Centipede, Eagle, Gorilla, and Jaguar. They also use a new weapon type in the Glaive, alongside Quarterstaves and Polearms. Glaives are a two-handed polearm, that has +X% Damage to Elites as their baseline Affix.

Each of these spirits has a different style of gameplay for Spiritborn to use in Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred. Below is a brief highlight of what you can expect when channeling the power of specific spirits:
Balazan the Centipede: Poison damage, drain life on kill
Kwatli the Eagle: Lightning damage, movement speed, mobility
Wumba the Gorilla: Physical damage, protection, damage reduction/defense
Rezoka the Jaguar: Fire damage, attack speed, powerful scaling damage, cooldown reduction
You can choose one Primary and one Secondary Spirit Guardian, via their Spirit Hall class mechanic. The combination of these spirits will provide various buffs and abilities.
Here’s what each spirit does when chosen as either Primary or Secondary:
Centipede:Primary: Hitting an enemy with Cenipede Skills reduces their damage by 2.5% and Slows them by 10% for 3s, stacking up to eight times. All Skills are now Centipede Skills. Secondary: Heal for 1% of your Maximum Life, for every nearby enemy you’ve poisoned in the last 3s, up to 5%.
Eagle: Primary: Casting an Eagle Skill grants two Storm Feathers, up to a maximum of eight. When you Evade, all Storm Feathers are fired dealing 100% Lightning damage and making targets vulnerable for 3s. All Skills are now Eagle Skills. Secondary: For every 4 meters you move, your Critical Strike Chance increases by 4%. This bonus is reset 2s after your Critical Strike.
Gorilla:Primary: Casting a Gorilla Skill deals 100% Thorns to enemies you hit and grants a Barrier for 10% of Maximum Life, up to 40% for 3s. All Skills are Gorilla Skills. Secondary: When you have at least five stacks of Resolve, you are unstoppable.
Jaguar: Primary: Every 4th time you deal direct damage to an enemy with a Jaguar Skill, unleash additional slashes dealing 100% of the damage of the four hits. All Skills are now also Jaguar Skills. Secondary: Maximum Ferocity is increased by one. Gain one stack of Ferocity whenever you kill an enemy or damage a Boss.

Enhanced: Gain 1 Vigor per second for every Nearby enemy Poisoned by Withering Fist, up to 10. Accelerated: Enemies Poisoned by Withering Fist deal 20% less damage. Sharp: Withering Fists 3rd attack spreads its Poisoning to 3 Nearby unaffected enemies. Hitting a vulnerable enemy spreads that effect to all hits.
Thunder Spike

Jab forward with a piercing strike to deal 15% damage. 3rd attack pierces further, dealing 24% damage and reducing your Evade CD by 5s. Lightning Damage.
Enhanced: Thunderspike generates 5 additional Vigor if you move in 2s. Accelerated: When you Evade, you attack with Thunderspike along the way and make enemies Vulnerable for 2s. Sharp: Thunderspike's 3rd attack strikes back again. Pulls in/knocks down Distant enemies for 3s.
Rock Splitter

Rush an enemy and hit enemies in front of you for 15% damage. 3rd attack strikes enemies around you for 28% damage. Physical Damage.

Hurl 5 feathers that pierce through enemies, each dealing 14% damage. Lightning damage.
Enhanced: Makes enemies Vulnerable for 3s if they are hit with at least 3 feathers at once. Rampant: Feathers fly 50% further and converge on your target with an additional Critical Strike Chance for each point of Vigor you had on the cast. Hurls 3 additional feathers and deals a 30% increase in damage to each enemy per hit.
Crushing Hand

Smash next to yourself, creating two shockwaves on either side that overlap and deal 25% damage. Physical damage.

The Hunter

Bound across the battlefield with the Jaguar Spirit, dealing 50% damage upon landing and rapidly slashing enemies in the area for 200% total damage over 7 strikes. Fire damage.
Harmonious: Overfills your Ferocity by 4 stacks and causes you to deal 100% increased damage to injured enemies for 8s. Exalted: Killing an enemy while The Hunter is present has a 15% chance to instantly reset its Cooldown and cause your next cast within 8s to repeat its 7 strikes an additional time, up to 4 times.
The Seeker
Ultimate, Eagle
The Eagle Spirit swoops down and deals 20% damage. After a delay, it blasts off, dealing 300% damage. Lightning damage.
Harmonious: The first hit Knocks enemies Down for 4s and the second hit is a guaranteed Critical Strike. Exalted: The Seeker constantly makes all Nearby enemies Vulnerable while active.
The Protector
Ultimate, Gorilla
The Gorilla Spirit protects an area for 6s, continuously smashing surrounding enemies for 80% and granting you a Barrier for 15% of your Maximum Life every 1.5s. Physical damage.
Harmonious: Strikes deal 300% increased damage to Non-Elite enemies and reduce the damage you take from Elite enemies by 30% for 6s. Exalted: The Protector's area persists for an additional 6s. While in the area, you are Unstoppable and any enemies or Small Missiles inside are Slowed by 80%.
Ultimate Passives

Spiritual Attunement

The Base Spirit of a Skill cast grants: 30% Movement Speed (Eagle), 30% Damage Reduction (Gorilla), 30% Attack Speed (Jaguar), and 30% Life Steal (Centipede). Casting a Skill of a different Base Spirit swaps to the new bonus and increases all damage by 30% for 5s.
Prodigy's Tempo
Every 3rd consecutive cast of the same Basic Skill increases all Skill Ranks by 2 for 5s. Every 3rd consecutive cast of the same Core/Potency skill reduces all Skills' active CDs by 10%, increased by 2% for each of their Skill Ranks.
