The Division 2 Crossroads has enabled players to conjure up creative new builds. This Backfire build guide is one such loadout that makes use of the global modifiers to gain strong buffs. Division agents that enjoy SMGs while following a run-and-gun playstyle have more often than not disliked the Bleed effect that procs on the exotic SMG Backfire. In Year 7 Season 1 Crossroads, global modifiers and a creative new loadout can help mostly mitigate this side effect, if not completely.
This article will go over a simple Backfire build guide in The Division 2, where players can potentially remove the bleed effect.
Note: Player builds will vary according to geat pieces and attribute rolls.

Gear pieces
In this bleed negating Backfire build guide, we will take a look at some Brand Sets for our loadout in The Division 2. Although there are various different Gear Sets (green drops) that offer fantastic talents when four pieces are equipped, this particular build requires a few specific Brand Set pieces and their bonuses (yellow drops).

Let us go over the equipment below:
- Mask (Blue core) - Yaahl Gear
- Backpack - Exotic Memento
- Chest (Red core) - Grupo Sombra (Obliterate Talent)
- Gloves (Blue Core) - Yaahl Gear
- Holster (Blue core) - Česká Výroba
- Kneepads (Red Core) - Česká Výroba
This loadout will have three Red Cores, four Blue Cores, and one Yellow Core. The main motive of this build is to get the two set piece bonus for both Yaahl Gear and Česká Výroba. The former provides 10% Hazard protection and 10% Weapon Damage while the latter provides 8% Critical Hit Chance and 20% Hazard Protection.

The named gear piece The Hollow Man is a Yaahl Gear named item that provides Hazard Protection and Health Damage. It is a strong option to replace our mask. Furthermore, the Gloves can be replaced with a Belstone Armory or Gila Guard piece to boost defensive stats.
Our main motive in this Backfire build guide is to equip as many Crit Hit Damage and Hazard Protection attributes on our gear pieces as possible. Furthermore, in the mod slots, we will equip all Bleed Resistance mods for our Mask, Backpack, and also Chest piece.

Weapon Choices
As for our weapon choices, the primary will obviously be the Backfire Exotic SMG with DMG to target out-of-cover attributes if possible. This multiplicative stat offers the highest damage numbers and allows players to burn through enemy factions. On our secondary slot, we have equipped an ACS shotgun, which doesn't see much use.

In the pistol slow, any gun that players might want to increase the proficiency rank of can be equipped. The same can be said for our secondary choice since 99% of the time, the weapon you will run will be the Backfire.
Specialization
We have chosen the Gunner specialization for the fire rate increase and armor on kill bonuses, but the Firewall specialization is also another amazing choice due to its unique medkit and Striker shield options.
Skills
The skills in this Backfire build guide are primarily focused on keeping the player alive and providing sustenance. A Crusader or Striker shield is a good option, which can be combined with a Reviver Hive, Restorer Hive, Banshee Pulse, or similar other defensive or offensive choices.
The secondary skill slot largely depends upon a player's capabilities. Whether they require more defensive assists or more offensive options will come down to positioning, aim, and overall experience.
Global Modifiers and Stats in this Backfire build guide
Our overall Stats of this Backfire build guide on a SHD 2000+ division agent are as follows:
- Armor - 1.5M
- Armor on Kill - 150K
- Max Health - 363K
- Hazard Protection - 89%
- Bleed Resistance - 100%
- Critical Hit Chance - 60%
- Critical Hit Damage - 120%

All the important stats like Bleed Resistance, Hazard Protection, Critical Hit Chance, and Damage will be buffed thanks to our Hard Core Global Modifiers, which are as follows:
- Active Modifier - Assault Link
- Passive Modifier - Extra Padding, Safety First, Loaded Up
This active modifier sets our Firearms attribute level for this seasonal global modifier to five. Players will gain +5% Weapon damage for each non-blue core equipped. Upon Assault Link activation, all attributes will be frozen and Hard Core bonuses multiplied by four and passive modifier values by two.

In layman's terms, when engaging in active combat and enabling Assault Link, players will see a huge boost in both defensive as well as offensive options. Our particular build went up to 98% Critical Hit Chance and 365% Critical Hit Damage with no bleed proc upon Backfire reload thanks to maxed-out Hazard Protection and Bleed Resistance stats.
How to play with this Backfire build
This Backfire build guide uses the exotic backpack Memento as its foundation. Although the SMG by itself can provide 200% Critical Hit Damage, it is the Memento that keeps the build playable with a run-and-gun playstyle. The high overall Hazard Protection and Bleed Resistance stats help negate the Bleed effect that procs on Backfire reload.
Additionally, players need to first work on getting their Memento stacks maxed, similar to every other Memento equipped loadout. This will ensure that players get a constant Weapon Damage and Armor Regen bonus, which further boosts offense and survival chances.
This Backfire build can be used in Heroic Difficulty content for open-world activities as a Solo Agent. However, for harder content, it is recommended that players assemble a team to assist them in taking down the enemy factions in DC.
