WoW The War Within has made it much easier to farm Renown, compared to previous expansions. Thanks to Warbands, you only need to grind Renown once instead of having to do it on each character. This particular update has changed how we approach farming Renown/Reputation in little ways. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways you can take a little time out of your day to gain some pretty serious Renown levels.

Once you’ve unlocked Adventure Mode, your level 70 alts can also take part in this Renown farm in WoW The War Within. Some of them may be better if you’re just leveling alts, compared to burning potential resources on your “main” character.

How to easily farm Renown in WoW The War Within

1) Finish the Main Story Campaign/Side Quests/Storylines in each zone

This method of Renown farming kind of goes without saying in WoW The War Within. Completing the main story/main scenario gives a solid amount of reputation for each zone in the game. The Side Quests/Side Storylines, however, are something many players skip. This is a great task for your alts, as you level them throughout Khaz Algar.

Completing side quests could also be one of the things you do once you hit level 80. Every quest doesn’t guarantee Renown, but finishing quest chains/storylines does give you Renown for that zone, making it worthwhile. It also goes towards achievements - if you’re into that kind of thing.

2) Do your Weekly Events/Quests

Completing Weekly Events/Quests in WoW The War Within is an amazing way to farm Renown. Sure, you can only get the Renown bonuses on one character typically per week, but it affects your whole Warband. They’re still worth doing on alts for the treasure chest rewards, though, as you can get useful currencies and great equipment. Plus, there are several amazing, easy weekly quests you can do. Just look for the blue question mark with a star burst on your map/minimap:

  • Weekly “World Content” Quest: Khaz Algar (Faerin Lothar/High Speaker Brinthe)
  • Awakening the Machine: The Ringing Deeps (Speaker Kuldas) (Note: Must complete all 20 waves and open chests at the end)
  • Rollin’ in the Deeps: The Ringing Deeps (Gnawbles)
  • Spreading the Light: Hallowfall (Light’s Blooming section of the map)
  • Forge a Pact: Azj-Kahet (City of Threads)

You also have a weekly quest to complete a dungeon, which lets you pick a reputation boost (+1500 Renown) in Dornogal to complete. There are lots of ways to gain Renown once a week in WoW The War Within, so taking the time to do them on a character is a good idea. Some areas, like the Spreading the Light event, also have extra weeklies that grant Satchels - these can drop a rare mount: the Dauntless Imperial Lynx.

3) Take the time to seek out Treasures in each zone

There are plenty of treasures you can find in each region of WoW The War Within’s Khaz Algar, and they all grant +150 Renown the first time you claim them. If you’re using an addon like Handy Notes, it can show you each and every one of them as well as information on exactly where to find them.

There is a decent amount of them in each zone, and this is great if you’re exploring or farming resources. Take the time to get these treasures and you can pick up a decent amount of Renown for your Warband.

4) Kill Rares in each zone on a weekly basis

This is something players ought to be doing anyway, but each region in WoW The War Within has a wealth of Rare/Rare Elites that can spawn throughout areas. Many of them give you useful equipment or even incredibly rare mounts. However, you also gain Renown for the first kill of each Rare in a zone, per week.

That makes it worthwhile to seek and destroy them every week. You don’t have to do these on one character, either - you may want the gear for an alt that some rares drop, but keep in mind, you only get the Renown one time a week per specific Rare monster slain.

5) Bountiful Delves house large Reputation gains

This one might be a little controversial, and I can see why. Bountiful Delves require Restored Coffer Keys, which are a resource you pick up from exploring the game/completing World Quests, and things of that nature. Many players will want to hold onto as many of these as possible for when Season 1 starts, and they can do Tier 8 Bountiful Delves. That’s how you get the best gear possible from a Delve.

However, you can also get these Restored Coffer Keys on alts, too. That’s what I recommend. When you complete a Bountiful Delve, the chest rewards you with a random faction’s Renown. While you don’t get to choose, you still gain a significant chunk of Renown for a reward, making it worth doing.
