Yahiko’s Life

Yahiko was born in the Hidden Rain Village. During the Second Great Ninja War, Yahiko’s parents died in the conflict leaving Yahiko an orphan. At a very young age, Yahiko had to fend for himself in a war-stricken country. At first, Yahiko asked others for food but when he realized his efforts were no good, he started to steal food in order to fill his hungry stomach. In these tough times, Yahiko found a ray of hope when we met Konan and then Nagato on his journey. They started living together and taking care of each other.

He was grateful for the new family that he gained but he realized that they cannot live to steal their entire life and decided to become strong in order to end the war and bring peace. In his quest for strength, Yahiko came across The Sannin, three legendary shinobi from the hidden leaf village and decided that he will learn ninjutsu from them and become strong and set out to find them with his friends along with him. After facing many difficulties along the way, he finally found the Sannin, and witnessing their dedication, Master Jiraiya decided to take them under his wing.

After training for years under Jiraiya Sensei, Yahiko, Nagato and Konan turned out to be capable shinobi. Then the time came when Master Jiraiya was certain that they are capable to defend themselves, and he decided to part ways with them. After Jiraiya Sensi’s departure, Yahiko decided to set out on his journey to end wars and bring peace with Nagato and Konan.

Yahiko founded Akatsuki with his childhood friends, Nagato and Konan during the Third Great Ninja War. Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan belonged to the Hidden Rain Village which was often the stadium for battles of the Great Five Nations, and were orphaned in the Second Great Shinobi War because of it. Akatsuki was originally founded in order to bring peace to their home country, Hidden Rain Village which often got caught in crossfires in quarrels among the great five nations.

After facing the war, Yahiko decided to become strong and end all wars so that no one has to go through what they did at such a young age. Yahiko believed that in order to put an end to war and obtain peace, people need to share each other's pain and understand one another, and for that purpose, he founded an organization that became known as Akatsuki. Although Yahiko was the leader of the organization, he always believed that Nagato is the one meant to bring world peace as he possessed a kind heart and Rinnegan.

Under Yahiko’s leadership, Akatsuki had begun gaining sympathizers and many Hidden Rain shinobi got affiliated with the Akatsuki due to their desire to bring peace for the people and to put an end to the war. The tales of their deeds had begun to breach Hidden Rain’s borders and they acquired popularity and influence in the Hidden Rain Village. Yahiko’s Akatsuki consisted of Daibutsu, Kie, Konan, Kyusuke, Nagato and Yahiko as their leader.

As Akatsuki was gaining fame, Hanzo of the Salamander, who was the leader of the Hidden Rain Village, became aware of their existence and considered them to be great assets for the village. But Hanzo’s thoughts were poisoned by Danzo as he led Hanzo to believe that the leader of Akatsuki, Yahiko is actually after Hanzo’s position in the village and wishes to become the leader of the village.

Filled with Danzo’s intrusive thoughts, Danzo decided to eliminate Yahiko and destroy Akatsuki with him to protect his position in the village. Hanzo set up a meeting with the leader of the Akatsuki to ambush him. Yahiko’s affiliation with Akatsuki came to an unfortunate end after he stabbed himself with Nagato’s kunai in order to save Konan who was captured by Hanzo of the Salamander under the influence of Danzo. Hanzo instructed Nagato to kill Yahiko as he feared Yahiko was a threat to him and his authority over the Hidden Rain Village. In order to save Konan and to save Nagato from the pain of killing his friend, Yahiko stabbed himself on Nagato’s kunai.

The rest of the Akatsuki members became aware of the ambush and ran towards the battlefield in order to help their friends but were intercepted by Obito Uchiha and Zetsu. They tried to fight their way through but died in the process at the hands of Obito.

Different Versions of Akatsuki

1. Yahiko’s Akatsuki

Yahiko founded the Akatsuki during the Third Great Ninja War. He founded the organization in order to end the war and bring peace to his homeland. Yahiko believed that true peace can only be achieved only when people share their pain with each other, cry together and have empathy for each other. Akatsuki flourished under Yahiko’s leadership and became gaining fame along the way, but unfortunately, Yahiko found Konan as a hostage in Hanzo’s possession, and in order to save her, he committed suicide on Nagato’s kunai and entrusted his dream to Nagato.

2. Nagato’s Akatsuki

Nagato was filled with rage and grief after Yahiko stabbed himself on Nagato’s kunai and committed suicide, Nagato summoned the Gedo Statue (Husk of the Ten-Tails) and killed all the attackers with his rinnegan’s prowers in order to save Konan although Hanzo himself managed to escape.

After Yahiko’s unfortunate demise, Nagato became the leader of Akatsuki. The original akatsuki cloak also got modified and now it was a black cloak with red cloud pattern all over it.The effects of this event left a great impact on Nagato’s perspective towards the shinobi world. Nagato came to the conclusion that Yahiko’s vision was right but his execution was flawed. Nagato understood that sharing each other’s pain was not enough, one needs to experience the same pain. Nagato chose to initiate war so that people can feel similar pain and bond over their shared hatred of war. Nagato wanted to bring peace with the fear of war and suffering.

3. Tobi’s Akatsuki

After Pain Arc and Nagato’s demise, Tobi (later revealed as Obito Uchiha) became the leader of akatsuki. As many of the members met with their end (except Hidan, who was buried alive), Tobi recruited Sasuke Uchiha, Karin Uzumaki, Suigetsu and Jugo, former members of Taka lead by Sasuke, as full-fledged members of the Akatsuki although they left akstsuki shortly after.

Although Obito’s goal was the same as the previous leaders of the Akatsuki, Nagato and Yahiko, to bring peace, his approach towards the goal was different. Rather than use the powers of the tailed beasts to bring mass destruction, he wanted to use the tailed beast to cast a genjutsu on the whole world and create a dream world where everyone can live their dream life and live peacefully and in harmony as he believed the current world is hell and one cannot change it with mere efforts and sought out to create a whole new world of dreams where everything is possible.
