Alex Bowman drove the no.48 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports to the ninth spot in driver standings during the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series. Bowman was able to win one race in 2024, and progressed to the Round of 12, post which he was eliminated. Bowman managed to end an 80 race winless streak, as per NASCAR's official website. Bowman has been competing in the Cup Series for over 10 years, as of February 2025. He debuted with BK Racing during the 2014 season. Alex Bowman replaced Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Hendrick Motorsports, earning a full-time spot in the team in 2018.

"I've heard too many racing people, people with no money at stake, say that Alex is more than ready for this race." Further, he also reflected on the background and roots of Alex Bowman and how he was able to join the topmost divison of stock car racing. "It's unusual for anyone with Alex's background to get this opportunity so quickly," Sean Bowman says. "He's only been in stock cars for basically a year and a half. It's the opportunity of a lifetime."

Alex Bowman has also revealed the importance of his father's body shop. In an interview with NESN.com, he said, “He has a full body shop back home in Tucson (Ariz.) and we visited the Axalta Center, which was really cool. That’s his world and I literally couldn’t get him to leave.”
