Zakhari Franklin is a former collegiate football wide receiver for the Illinois Fighting Illini in the Big Ten Conference. Zakhari Franklin started his collegiate football career at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) where he spent four years before transferring to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 2023 and later to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2024. During Franklin’s true freshman year, he played on the UTSA Roadrunners football team. Even as a freshman, Franklin was one of the leading receivers for the Roadrunners as he finished the season with 38 catches for 491 receiving yards while adding three touchdowns. Zakhari Franklin's colleges

Zakhari Frankin has been a part of three colleges: University of Texas at San Antonio, University of Mississippi and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. During his sophomore season in 2020, he took a step forward by hauling in 49 catches for 694 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He managed these numbers from just 10 games, as he missed two of the games during the season. The highlight of this season were the four games in which he had 100 or more receiving yards.

During his junior year in 2021, he amassed a staggering 1,027 receiving yards from just 81 receptions. He also had 12 touchdowns that year. His production led to him setting four single-season receiving records at the school, including the most catches, most receiving yards, most receiving yards per game, and the most receiving touchdowns. He finished his senior year of college in 2022 on another strong note. His 93 receptions led to 12 touchdowns and 1,136 receiving yards, as per Sports Reference. After a solid four-year career at UTSA, Franklin transferred to the University of Mississippi in 2023. However, he started in only four games and transferred to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2024. He recorded 55 receptions for 652 yards and four touchdowns, according to Sports Reference.

Zakhari Franklin's high school

Franklin attended Cedar Hill High School in Cedar Hill, Texas, which is just a few miles south of the city of Dallas, Texas. In high school, he was a multi-sport athlete, being part of not only the school’s football team but also its basketball and track and field teams.
