Edmond Tarverdyan is the head trainer at the Glendale Fighting Club that he founded in 1997. Edmond's gym gained popularity after one of their team members, Ronda Rousey gained popularity in the UFC and winning the UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship. This was the gym's glory period as it gained popularity along with Rousey's rise to the top of the UFC.
However, after Ronda Rousey lost her UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship to Holly Holm at 193, things would turn south for Edmond and the gym as the community started criticizing him for Ronda's striking ability. This criticism increased after Rousey dominated in her next fight against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207.
Along with this, the poor record of other fighters in Glendale added to the backlash. The records included Shayna Baszler going 0-3, Clay Guida going 0-2, Jessamyn Duke losing 5 of her next 6-fights, Marina Shafir losing 2 of her next 3-fights, Jake Ellenberger losing 5 of her next 7-fights and Ronda's husband losing 4-times and winning twice. Due to this poor performance, the gym and Edmond lost their reputation and became a target of harsh criticism.
The Glendale Fighting Club still exists with Edmond as the head coach and, the Club still has its team that competes in the regional circuit.
