Miami Dolphins cut two-time Pro Bowl safety Reshad Jones
- After a 10-year stay with the Miami Dolphins, ex-Pro Bowl safety Reshad Jones will enter free agency ahead of the 2020 NFL campaign.
Reshad Jones is on the search for a new team after the Miami Dolphins elected to cut the safety ahead of the 2020 NFL season.
The 32-year-old was selected by Miami in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft and has spent all 10 years of his career with the Dolphins.
Jones became a regular starter by his second season and earned two Pro Bowl selections in 2015 and 2017, becoming one of the league's highest-paid safeties in the process.
However, he managed just four appearances in 2019 and finished the season on injured reserve.
The Dolphins have now opted to cut short his contract, which still had two years to run, to free up $5.4million in cap space ahead of free agency.

"We want to thank Reshad for everything he has done for the Miami Dolphins," general manager Chris Grier said, with his team having already had $88m in cap room prior to this move.
"I have known Reshad since spending time with him at Georgia and have been impressed with everything he's been able to accomplish. We wish him the best moving forward."Published 12 Mar 2020, 00:56 IST
