Jeffrey Nero Hardy is an American professional wrestler best known for his performance with WWE and TNA. Hardy is a multiple-time world champion and tag team champion between WWE, ROH, and TNA.

Professional Wrestling Career


Early career


The brothers and their friends started their own wrestling promotion in their backyard where they performed moves on a trampoline. Trampoline Wrestling Federation (TWF) was integrated into a country fair in North Carolina. Jeff and Matt formed their own wrestling promotion, called Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts (OMEGA). The promotion dissolved in April 1998 when they signed contracts with the WWF.

Enhancement Talent (1994–1997)


They primarily used Hardy as an enhancement talent in his initial years. He was losing to guys such as RVD, 1-2-3 Kid, and Razor Ramon on a televised basis.

The Hardy Boyz & Single's Push (1998–2003)


Jeff and Matt were repackaged and made their debut as Hardy Boyz. They quickly rose to prominence and won their first WWF Tag Team Championship by defeating the Acolytes. Jeff gained popularity by performing death-defying moves from 10 to 20 feet. At WrestleMania 2000, Hardy Boyz faced E & C and Dudley Boyz in a triple threat ladder match and created history. The team lost, but they made several memories throughout the match. The teams faced off again at SummerSlam in a TLC match, which they lost.


In 2001, Jeff won an Intercontinental, Hardcore and Light Heavyweight Championship and feuded with Matt Hardy. In 2002, the Hardy Boyz began a rivalry with Brock Lesnar, which they lost. After years in the tag team division, Hardy took on The Undertaker in a ladder match for the WWE Undisputed Championship and lost. Hardy's match was critically acclaimed and garnered praises from fellow superstars.


At the end of 2002, Hardys were split during the Draft. Jeff was picked by RAW and Matt was drafted to SmackDown. Jeff has several feuds with superstars such as Shawn Michaels, RVD, The Rock and William Regal, before being released by the company. There were several reasons such as Hardy's erratic behaviour, drug use, refusal to go to rehab and deteriorating ring performance mentioned during his release.

Independent Circuit (2004-2006, 2017)


After being released, Hardy worked for several top independent promotions, such as ROH and TNA. Hardy made his debut at the Second Anniversary Show, in a match against A.J. Styles. They regularly featured Hardy in TNA and headlined several PPVs. Hardy worked with TNA for two years before being released.


The Hardy Boyz made a small appearance at ROH when they won the ROH World Tag Team Championship from The Young Bucks in 2017. They lost the title back to the Young Bucks before returning to WWE.

The Hardy Boyz Reunion (2006-2007)


Hardy returned to RAW and confronted Edge. He faced Edge for the WWE Championship and lost. Hardy faced Johny Nitro for the Intercontinental Championship and lost. He and Nitro gained victories over each other and won the title before dropping the championship to Umaga on RAW. The night after WrestleMania, Hardy Boyz won the World Tag Team Championship. They eventually lost the championship to Cade and Murdoch on RAW after two months.

Intercontinental Championship (2007-2008)


After taking some time off, Hardy returned and defeated Umaga on RAW to win his fourth Intercontinental Championship. At the end of the year, Hardy began a rivalry with Triple H, which he won. He faced Randy Orton at Royal Rumble for the WWE Championship, which he lost. Hardy lost his Intercontinental Championship to Chris Jericho on RAW. Hardy was announced to take part in the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania. However, Hardy failed a drug test and was suspended for 60 days.

World Championships and Departure (2008-2009)


Hardy returned and began a rivalry with Umaga. After defeating Umaga, Hardy was drafted to SmackDown, where he went for the WWE Championship. At Armageddon, Hardy defeated Edge and Triple H in a triple threat match to capture the WWE Championship, his first world championship.

At the Royal Rumble, Hardy lost the WWE Championship to Edge. Matt Hardy interfered in the title match and kicked off their rivalry. Jeff faced Matt Hardy in an Extreme Rules match at WrestleMania 25, which Jeff lost. At Backlash, Jeff defeated Matt in an "I Quit" match and ended their rivalry.


At Extreme Rules, Jeff Hardy defeated Edge in a Ladder match to become the World Heavyweight Champion. Moments after winning, CM Punk cashed in on Jeff Hardy and won the title. Jeff defeated Punk at Night of Champions to win his second world title. However, Punk defeated Jeff in a TLC match at SummerSlam to regain the title. Punk and Hardy had the hottest feud of the year. The rivalry ended when Jeff Hardy lost a steel cage match and quit WWE.

TNA

Immortal and Championship run (2010-2013)


Hardy signed with TNA and made his return on January 4th. At Lockdown, Hardy joined Team Hogan to defeat Team Flair. In August, Hardy entered an eight-man tournament for the vacant world championship. After wrestling a draw in the finals against Kurt Angle, Hardy faced Angle and Anderson in a triple threat at Bound for Glory for the vacant title. At Bound for Glory, Hardy turned heel, and joined the Immortal. He won his first TNA World Championship.

On January 4, 2011, Hardy made his debut for New Japan Pro-Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom V, where he successfully defended the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Tetsuya Naito. At Genesis, Hardy lost his title to Mr Anderson. At Against All Odds, Hardy won his second world title when he defeated Anderson in a ladder match. At Victory Road, Hardy was too intoxicated to wrestle. TNA cut short the match and Sting won the title.

In August, Hardy returned and apologized to the fans. It turned Hardy face, and he started his rivalry with Jeff Jarrett. Hardy took out several members of Immortal over the months. At Genesis, Hardy defeated Bobby Roode via disqualification. In June, Hardy entered another Bound for Glory Series, which he won. At Bound for Glory, Hardy defeated Austin Aries to win his third TNA World Championship. After defending his title against opponents such as Austin Aries and Bobby Roode, Hardy lost the title to Bully Ray at Lockdown.


Willow, Hardy Boyz Reunion and Broken Universe (2014-2017)


For a brief period, Hardy wrestled as his alter ego, Willow. Willow faced several superstars, such as Magnus, EC3, Rockstar Spud and Bran, over the following months. At Slammiversary XII, Magnus defeated Willow.


The Hardy Boyz reunited to face The Wolves at Destination X for the TNA World Tag Team Championships and lost. The Hardy Boyz defeated Samoa Joe and Low Ki to earn another TNA World Tag Team Championship match. On March 16, 2015, The Hardys won an Ultimate X match for the belts which marked as their first reign. On May 8, 2015, the Hardys were forced to vacate the TNA World Tag Team Championship due to a dirt bike accident that broke Jeff's leg.

After Matt lost his second match against EC3, Jeff was forced to become EC3's personal assistant. At Bound for Glory, Hardy turned on Carter by hitting him with a steel chair. Matt won the match, which was marked as his first TNA World Heavyweight Championship reign.


In 2016, Jeff began a rivalry with Matt for the world title. After Matt lost the title, he continued his feud with Jeff. In June, Matt challenged Jeff to a final match. On July 5, at "The Final Deletion", Matt defeated Jeff to become the sole owner of the Hardy brand, forcing Jeff to drop his last name and become referred to as "Brother Nero". At Bound for Glory, the Hardys defeated Decay to win their second TNA World Tag Team Championship. After successfully defending the titles against DCC, Decay and The Wolves, The Hardys disappeared and vacated the titles as they left the company.

Championships (2017-Present)


At WrestleMania 33, Jeff and Matt returned and won the RAW Tag Team Championship. The duo began their rivalry against The Bar where they finally lost the titles at Extreme Rules. In September, Hardy suffered a shoulder injury which took him out for six months.


Hardy returned on RAW after WrestleMania 34, where he helped Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. The next week, Hardy won the United States Championship against Jinder Mahal. Hardy lost the title to Shinsuke Nakamura at Extreme Rules. Hardy began a rivalry with Randy Orton, which accumulated at Hell in a Cell. Randy Orton defeated Jeff Hardy in a Hell in a Cell match. At Survivor Series, Hardy joined Team SmackDown which lost to Team Raw.

At WrestleMania 35, Hardy took part in André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which he lost. On SmackDown, The Hardy Boyz defeated Usos to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The team vacated the title due to Hardy's knee injury.


Hardy returned to WWE after a year and began his rivalry with Sheamus. Hardy won the rivalry and moved towards the Intercontinental Championship. On August 21st, Hardy defeated A.J. Styles for the Intercontinental Championship. At Clash of Champions, Hardy lost the title to Sami Zayn in a triple threat ladder match to become the Undisputed Intercontinental Champion.


At Draft 2020, Hardy was drafted to RAW. He faced several contenders and champions but was unsuccessful in winning any championships. In 2021, Hardy defeated Karrion Kross in less than a minute. Hardy had several matches against Damien Priest, but could not win the title.


At Draft 2021, Hardy was drafted to SmackDown. At Survivor Series, Hardy was on Team SmackDown. Seth Rollins eliminated Hardy, making him the sole survivor of the match. On December 4, Hardy was sent home during a live tour. Hardy was released from his contract a few days after the incident as he refused an offer to rehab.

AEW (2022-Present)


In March, Jeff made his AEW debut and assisted Matt Hardy, Sting, and Darby Alling against Andrade Hardy Family Office.
