Annie Xu is an American badminton player specializing in women's doubles. She was born on October 22, 1999, in San Jose, California. At the age of 24, she achieved a career-high ranking of 30 alongside her partner and twin Kerry Xu. Notably, she secured a silver medal at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago and added another silver to her belt at the 2024 Pan Am Championships in Guatemala City in the women's doubles category. She previously clinched a gold medal in the 2016 Pan Am Female Badminton Cup.

Annie Xu and her twin sister Kerry began playing badminton at the age of 8 in San Jose, California. They quickly progressed and by the age of 12, the sisters were already winning national titles. Their coach, Febriyan Irvannaldy, a former national player from Indonesia, recognized their talent early. The twins’ impressive performances at a young age set the stage for their future successes.

At the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, Annie and her partner Kerry Xu won a silver medal in women’s doubles. They faced off against Canada’s Catherine Choi and Josephine Wu in a tough match, ultimately finishing with scores of 18–21, 21–10, and 17–21.

In the same year, she earned a bronze medal with her partner Kerry Xu at the Pan Am Championships in Jamaica. In 2024, she won a silver medal with Kerry Xu in Guatemala.

Annie has also secured a bronze medal with her twin sister Kerry at the Summer Universiade in Taiwan.

She also saw great success At the Pan Am Junior Championships, winning multiple gold medals. In 2014, she claimed gold in both girls’ doubles and mixed team events in Guatemala City. The following year in Tijuana, Mexico, she again won gold in the girls' doubles and mixed team. Annie also earned a bronze medal in girls’ singles and mixed doubles in 2014.

Annie Xu excelled in BWF International tournaments. In 2017, she won the Yonex/K&D Graphics International with her partner Kerry Xu, beating Peru’s Daniela Macías and Dánica Nishimura.

Her success continued till 2019 when she won the Silicon Valley International. In 2022, she secured another gold medal at the Canadian International. Then, in 2023, she added a gold medal to her accolades by winning the Peru Challenge.

Annie Xu is currently preparing to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics as part of the U.S. badminton team. She will be playing in the women’s doubles event with her partner and twin sister, Kerry Xu. This moment is significant as they will be the first set of twin sisters to represent the United States in any sport at the Summer Olympics since 1996​.
