Boyd Martin, born August 20, 1979, is an American equestrian competing in eventing. He is married to Silva Martin (née Stigler), a German-born dressage rider and trainer. Silva, now a U.S. citizen, competes at the Grand Prix level and has represented the United States in team competitions. The couple operates Windurra USA, their training facility in Cochranville, Pennsylvania. They have three sons: Nox, Leo, and Koa.

Boyd has participated in three consecutive Summer Olympic Games (2012, 2016, 2020) and is a two-time Pan American Games team gold medalist. He won individual gold at the 2019 Pan American Games and team silver at the 2022 World Championships. Boyd has competed at every CCI5* event worldwide and won the 2021 Maryland CCI5*-L.

He was born to an American speed skater mother and an Australian cross-country skier father, gaining dual citizenship before officially representing the United States in international competitions in 2009.

How did Boyd Martin meet Silva Martin?

According to Boyd Martin's own account, shared on the Three Days Three Ways website, he met Silva when she came to Australia as a German dressage rider. At the time, Silva didn't know much English. Boyd described her as "the good-looking sort" and mentioned that many were interested in her.

He humorously recounted, “We had the same interest in horses and stuff and for some reason, she stuck around longer than I thought she would. I ended up signing her up."
