Brooke Raboutou's Coach

Brooke Raboutou trains under the expert guidance of Josh Larson. Josh is a renowned American climber and USA Climbing National Team Head Coach. Born in 1985 and raised in rural Massachusetts, Larson now calls Boston home. He excels both in competitive climbing and exploring new routes in the wilderness.

Brooke Raboutou's Previous Coach

Brooke Raboutou was previously coached by her mother Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou, a celebrated American rock climber and coach. She secured four World Cup titles (1992-1995) and the 1995 World Championship in lead climbing. Her achievements are remarkable as the third woman to redpoint a 5.14a (8b+) route. Robyn founded ABC Kids Climbing in Boulder, Colorado, nurturing talents like Margo Hayes, Megan Mascarenas, and her daughter, Brooke Raboutou. Team ABC was instrumental in Margo Hayes's historic 5.15a climb and Natalia Grossman's 2021 bouldering world championship which also saw Brooke Raboutou and Colin Duffy qualify for the 2020 Olympics.

Josh is the son of Everett N. Larson Jr and Diane Larson.

Josh Larson is married to Charlotte Durif, a renowned pro climber, photographer, and filmmaker, running Cold House Media. She represents the French Climbing Team and has six World Champion titles and 16 French Champion titles (2004-2016) to her name. Durif's expertise extends to consulting, clinics, board memberships, and TV commentary. She holds a degree as a generalist Engineer and a Doctorate in chemistry and physical chemistry of materials. She was supported by Mountain Hardwear, Petzl, EB, and Volx Climbing and she continues to climb outdoors, travel globally, and engage with local climbing communities, fully living her passion.

Josh Larson's Athletic Career

Josh Larson discovered his passion for climbing at 14 during a visit to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He dedicated three years to competition climbing and outdoor adventures before pausing his climbing career to become an electrician. Larson reignited his love for climbing, diving into competitions, and outdoor climbing with renewed vigor at 24. Larson's competitive milestones include a first-place finish at the 2012 UBS Pro Tour Championship and top placements at American and Canadian Nationals.

Larson was placed third at the 2015 American Bouldering Nationals and second at the 2015 Canadian Nationals earning a spot on the US Bouldering Team. In 2013, he conquered V12 boulders Kill on Sight and Loaded Direct, and he ascended V13 classics The Buttermilker and Spectre in 2015. Beyond established climbs, Larson also focuses on discovering and developing new routes, such as Eli (5.13c) and Everything is Purple (V12).
