
Eileen Gu, who is also known by her Chinese name Gu Ailing, is a Chinese freestyle skier. Despite being born in the United States on September 3, 2003, she decided to start racing for China in June 2019. Representing China at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Gu won golds in big air and halfpipe and silver in slopestyle, making her the youngest Olympic winner in freestyle skiing at 18. She also became the first freestyle skier to win three medals at a single Winter Olympics.
Gu, who earned early admittance to Stanford University in December 2020, became the first rookie to win a gold medal in Women's Ski SuperPipe at the 2021 Winter X Games, where she also took home two golds in superpipe and slopestyle and a bronze in big air. She won gold in superpipe at the 2024 Winter X Games despite earlier picking up a right hip injury during slopestyle training at the same event.
