
Two-time Olympic medalist Helen Maroulis is a freestyle wrestler. While she won one gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics in 53 kg, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she won a bronze medal in 57 kg. By winning gold at the former event, she became the first American woman to do so. Maroulis was born on September 17, 1991.
The 5-foot-3-inch wrestler went to Magruder High School and pinned a senior boy in an event to be named the most outstanding wrestler of the event. Further, she graduated from school with one win short of 100. Moving on, Maroulis initially enrolled at the Missouri Baptist University but later transferred to the Simon Fraser University in British Columbia and was a three-time Junior World medalist during her time there.
