John John Florence is a Hawaiian surfer who was named after John F. Kennedy Jr. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 18, 1992. Florence discovered his passion for surfing after being introduced to the sport by his mother. As per most, he started surfing at the tender age of two. Florence etched his name in history books when he entered the Triple Crown of Surfing at 13 years of age and became the youngest surfer to square off in the event.
He is a two-time World Champion (2016, 2017), a five-time Triple Crown of Surfing Champion (2011, 2013, 2016, 2020, 2021), and a one-time Olympian (2020 Tokyo Olympics). He sustained an ACL injury in 2019, which led to his withdrawal from the 2019 World Surf League; however, he still qualified for the 2020 Olympics. The Hawaiian also won the Billabong Pipeline Masters in 2020 by besting Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina.
In 2022, he nabbed the Triple Crown of Surfing, and in 2023, Florence triumphed in the Vans Pipe Masters. John John Florence has managed to earn his spot in the Paris Olympics 2024, despite not attaining a championship tour (CT) win since the 2021 Pipeline Masters.
