Stephen Tomasin is a native of Santa Rosa, California. Tomasín plays professional rugby union for the United States national rugby sevens team. He started playing rugby when he was sixteen years old. He was influenced by his cousins and uncles, who helped him commence his professional career. During high school, Tomasin was established as a multi-sport athlete playing both American football and baseball. He was awarded the North Bay League Offensive MVP, when he played football for Cardinal Newman HS, before switching completely to rugby. He exhibited some extraordinary rugby skills at San Diego State University, getting him an opportunity to play for the New York Athletic Club and OMBAC during the Pacific Rugby Premiership. His professional debut was at the 2013 Gold Coast Sevens, scoring in his very first attempt during the Challenge Trophy Semifinals against Spain. He was an integral part of the USA Men's Sevens, bringing his brilliance to the victory of back-to-back silver medals at the 2019 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. He had a remarkable season in 2018-19, in which he helped the U.S. to its best finish ever at second place and was picked for the Dream Team. Tomasin represented the USA at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He also played in the 2018 and 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens championships. He embedded his legacy as an eclectic player who is capable of making an immediate impact.
