Kathryn Rose Plummer hails from Aliso Viejo, California, United States and enrolled in Aliso Niguel High School, where she played high school volleyball and graduated in 2016. Plummer was known for her athletic abilities from a very young age, by which she achieved widespread recognition from many colleges. While in 7th grade, she received a scholarship offer, which demonstrated that she was recognized for her talent. Out of many full athletic scholarship offers, Kathryn selected Standford.

While studying at Standford, as a freshman, she won National Freshman of the Year by the AVCA. In 2017 and 2018, back-to-back, she won the National Player of the Year. Kathryn has graduated and majored in human biology. Kathryn signed her first professional contract on December 30, with Italian side Saugella Team Monza. Plummer was named to 18-player for the FIVB Volleyball National League tournament, on May 25- June 24 in Rimini, Italy. She has also competed in the Pan American Games in Lima in 2019, Under 21 World Championships in Nanjing in 2017, Under 19 World Championships in Melbourne in 2016 and Youth World Championships in Lima in 2015. Kathryn Plummer has also made her Olympic debut at Pris in 2024.
