In her middle school, Saliva tried soccer, sailing, and running but eventually, she realized going downhill was much more fun on a bike. She attended a high school that had the first all-girls mountain bike team in the country. In her junior year, she joined her first junior team, Bear Development. Savilia won the Junior 17-18 Cross-Country and Short Track National Championships in Snowshoe, West Virginia as an amateur.
