What is Athena’s finishing move?

Adrienne Reese is an American Professional Wrestler, who is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) under the ring name Athena. She also appears on AEW’s sister promotion Ring of Honor, where she is the reigning ROH Women’s World Champion on her first reign and it is the longest reign for the title. She is better known for her time in WWE from 2015 to 2021 under the ring name Ember Moon and was the former NXT Women’s Champion & NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Reese started her professional wrestling career in 2007 under the guidance of his grandfather. She was trained from Skandor Akbar and from Booker T’s Pro Wrestling Alliance. She made her in-ring debut under the ring name Trouble, but soon changed it to Athena. For the first eight years of her career, she wrestled in multiple independent circuits including Anarchy Championship Wrestling, Shimmer Women Athletes, Absolute Intense Wrestling, Women Superstars Uncensored and more.

In 2015, Reese signed a contract with WWE and was assigned to wrestle for its developmental promotion NXT. She started to wrestle under her real name for a year and changed her name to Ember Moon from mid-2016. Ember Moon had a long winning streak and soon became the challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship. However lost her first match to Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship. As Asuka vacated her title, Moon competed for the vacant title in a fatal four way match and became the NXT Women’s Champion, which she held for 140 days.

Moon appeared on the main roster for the first time at the 2018 Royal Rumble and after losing her NXT Women’s title, was promoted to the main roster as a full time member. Moon had a long term feud with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville and teamed up with Bayley, but her back to back injuries spoiled the momentum and was written off from television.

Moon returned to television on the NXT brand with a brand new gimmick in 2020 and formed a tag team alliance with Shotzi Blackheart and entered the first ever Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and lost in the finals. They was then made the #1 Contenders for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship and won to become the second ever NXT Tag Team Champions. After losing the championship, Moon was released from WWE contract.

In 2022, Athen was signed to AEW and challenged Jade Cargill for the AEW TBS Championship but failed. She then changed her focus to the AEW Women’s World Champions and was unsuccessful again. She then started appearing on AEW’s sister promotion ROH and won the ROH Women’s World Championship and has now completed a year with the championship reign.

Athena currently uses the “O-Face” as her finishing move, which is a diving corkscrew stunner, where she dives from the top rope catching the neck of her opponent and performs stunner. While wrestling for WWE, the O-Face was called Eclipse. Athena has been using this finisher for almost a decade, it has helped her win a lot of championships throughout her career.
