The most professional level of baseball being played across the United States and Canada in present times is Major League Baseball (MLB). It was formed in 2000 to bring the National League (NL) and the American League (AL) under the supervision of one organization, Accordingly, the teams in these two leagues have also become a part of Major League Baseball (MLB).

MLB is notable for having thirty teams, which consists of fifteen teams in the National League (NL) and fifteen teams in the American League (AL). All these teams first compete in the regular season every year, to eventually become, champions of their divisions and achieve Wild Card spots in the postseason. Once the postseason starts, the teams that make it compete against each other in the Wild Card Series, Division Series and League Championship Series. Finally, the last two teams make it to the World Series games, which determine the MLB champion of the season.

Among these 162 games, they play 13 games each against the other four teams of their respective divisions. Then they play six games each against their chosen opponents in their league and seven games each against another four opponents of the same league, which makes it 116 games total for the season.

Next, these thirty teams play 46 interleague games against teams from the other league and divisions. This includes a four-game series against their interleague rivals and three games each against fourteen different teams from the other league. All these games take place in a period of around six months. After the completion of these games, the division champions are crowned and the remaining teams clinch the Wild Card spot for the postseason.

Eventually, Division Series winners will move on to the League Championship Series games to win their respective League Championships. Lastly, both the American League (AL) champion and the National League (NL) champion face off in the MLB World Series games, the conclusion of which sees a new MLB World Series winner being crowned.
