Matthew John Quatraro is a veteran figure in the world of Major League Baseball (MLB). Representing the Kansas City Royals as the manager for the second time in 2024, he attended Bethlehem Central High School in New York and then Old Dominion University, where he played college baseball. Following his college baseball career, He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 1996 MLB draft. Unfortunately, he saw his career being limited to the minor leagues till the Triple-A level for teams like Tampa Bay Devil Rays and New York Yankees. He never made it to the major leagues and eventually retired as a player.
After Matt Quatraro retired as a player, he initially coached and managed several minor league teams and was also the assistant coach of the Albany Great Danes baseball team at the University of Albany. He served as the minor league hitting coordinator for the Tampa Bay Rays from 2010-13. Moving on, he was the assistant hitting coach for the Cleveland Indians from 2014-17. From 2018-22, he was once again hired by the Tampa Bay Rays first as their third base coach and then as their bench coach. Following the 2022 season, he was hired as the manager for the Kansas City Royals and has been carrying in the same role in 2024.
