Born August 28, 1993, Bernardo Sebastian Zavala is an American professional baseball catcher. He is playing on the Seattle Mariners roster of Major League Baseball (MLB). Zavala was born in Fort Hood, Texas, U.S., but soon moved to California for his schooling. He went to Bishop Amat High School in La Puente, California. He then committed to playing college baseball for San Diego State University. Zavala was picked up by the Chicago White Sox in the 12th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. He made his professional debut in 2015 with the Arizona League White Sox. In his first season with them, he batted .326/.401/.628 with four home runs and 35 RBIs in 35 games. After a couple of more years playing for minor teams, Zavala was added to the White Sox roster on November 20, 2018, to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.
Despite this, Zavala only made his MLB debut on May 25, 2019, against the Minnesota Twins. He was again assigned to the Minor League teams. Zavala wrote himself into the history books on July 31, 2021, when he became the first player to hit his first three home runs in the same game. This was only in his 18th major league game. Zavala batted .155/.207/.304, with 7 homers, and 16 RBIs in 66 games for the White Sox in 2023.
