Celeste Yvonne Taylor has been a great addition as the new combo guard for the Ohio State Buckeyes women’s basketball team. Notable for being an impressive shot creator as well as a defender, she is a veteran, having previously played for the Texas Longhorns and the Duke Blue Devils.

Apart from this, Taylor is also a good mid range jumper which has proved favorable for her during her games. She also has good ball screening abilities. She is also quick on her feet and can easily overcome the guards from the opponent teams. Throughout her college basketball career, Celeste Taylor has proved to be highly reliable no matter whichever team she has played for.

Taylor’s effective basketball skills has made her the Coaches’ choice for Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2014. Moreover, she has also been included in the Big Ten All-Defensive Team and Second Team All-Big Ten in 2024.

Celeste Taylor is the second child of her family. She has an older brother named Isaiah Taylor and two younger sisters named Alexis Navarro and Ariel Navarro. Unfortunately, further information about her siblings is not available in the public domain as of April 2024.

He further revealed that Celeste Taylor always used to check up on her younger sisters, Alexis and Ariel Navarro. She ensured that they got into the shower and were ready for their school on time. She has always cared for her big brother and younger sisters as a child. Alex Navarro stated that this helped develop a leadership quality in Celeste Taylor.

Celeste Taylor’s Early Basketball Career

Celeste Taylor started her basketball career by playing varsity girl’s basketball for the Valley Stream South Falcons at Valley Stream South High School in her hometown. However, she changed schools and joined Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School in Brookville, New York, United States. There, she played varsity girl’s basketball for her team, the Long Island Lutheran Crusaders.

As a sophomore, she led her team to the NYSAIS Class AA Semifinals with a win-loss record of 18-4. During her junior and senior seasons, she was declared as the New York Newsday Long Island Player of the Year. Moreover, she also earned All-Long Island First Team honors.

She was very successful as a senior in 2018/18 by averaging 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. She led her team to the New York State Association of Independent Schools Class AA Championship in 2019. As a result, she was declared as the New York Gatorade Player of the Year. She graduated from her high school in 2019. She also played in the Jordan Brand Classic and became MacDonald’s All-American in 2019. ESPN considered her to be a five star recruit.

Celeste Taylor also represented Team USA in 2017 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship, 2018 FIBA Under-17 World Cup and 2018 FIBA Under-19 World Cup. She earned one gold medal each in all three tournaments.
