Throughout his high school, Jones scored more than 2,000 points. At Buckhorn, he guided his team to a 22-8 record as a sophomore. He was named to the all-state second team and the all-region first team at Memphis Day Academy. Jones also played AAU basketball for Team Thad and won numerous all-area recognitions while being the top scorer for his teams.
