Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the greatest T20 leagues in the world. It is a fascinating prospect for players for in the past it has supported several players to crack into their respective national sides.

For a cricketer who could not cut through in world cricket, IPL has presented them with an opportunity where they can make success for a couple of months in cricket.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is the most successful team in the IPL with three titles, and finishing up at the runners-up position in four. The team also has qualified for the playoffs in all the nine seasons.

Many famous players of the International cricket have performed for the 'Yellow army'. While a few players marked their territory with their outstanding performances but some did not perform up to the selectors' expectations. Let us take a look at the overseas cricketers you may forget that they played for CSK.

#3 Andrew Tye

Tye didn’t get a chance to perform in the playing XI and then following the CSK ban, he transferred to Gujarat Lions (GL), where he played for a couple of years from 2016-17.

Tye's made a thunderous appearance and grabbed a 5 wicket haul and continued on to scalp 13 wickets in just 6 matches.

His best season came in 2018 when he was picked up by the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Tye was 'KXIP outstanding pacer' of the edition by picking up 24 wickets in just 14 matches.

So, bad for CSK but great for Punjab.

#2 George Bailey

Most of the people forgot that George Bailey was once part of this team.

He was a member of CSK for four years between 2009 and 2012. One could question the motive behind why Bailey was regularly retained by the team if they hardly planned to use him. He only played 4 games scoring just 63 runs and was finally released in 2013.

In 2014, Bailey was appointed as the captain of KXIP. He successfully directed KXIP to their maiden finals. He also put on a fair performance with the bat, scoring 256 runs from just 17 matches with an amazing strike-rate of 135.36.

Most of the fans know Ben Laughlin for his good performances in IPL 2018, but very few remember that this was not his debut in the great IPL.

The Melbourne-born seamer, Laughlin is the leading wicket-taker in the Big Bash League. The 36-year-old T20 master is an experienced bowler and possesses an innovative variation of pace. In 2013, Laughlin made his first appearance in the Indian Premier League. He played in 2 games for CSK and took only one wicket with a dreadful economy rate of 10.24.

Given that CSK already had an experienced and skilled bowling lineup, and hence he was let go.

Post his elimination from CSK, Laughlin continued to be unsold in the auctions until 2018 when Rajasthan Royals put faith in him. He was given an opportunity middle of the season and picking up 9 wickets in 8 matches at an economy rate of 10.29. Despite his great performance with the ball, he missed retaining his deal with RR.
