4 IPL records which might never be broken

For all the numbers which keep floating around in the Indian Premier League, there are many records which might still prove to be a bridge too far for the players participating.

The game has evolved, the rules have been tweaked and yet these records might well be untouched in the seasons to come.

We take a look at four IPL records which might not be broken, ever!

#4 Biggest margin of victory

The first match of the IPL history saw history being created when a certain Brendon McCullum smoked an unbeaten 158 runs off just 73 runs.

Kolkata Knight Riders piled up 222 runs in their first innings and then a shell-shocked Royal Challengers Bangalore were bundled out for a paltry 82 runs.

KKR won the match by a huge margin of 140 runs.

This record, although a dubious one, might not be surpassed in the IPL.

#3 Most expensive over

Royal Challengers Bangalore feature once again on the list, but this time they are on the right side.

This match was played between RCB and the now defunct Kochi Tuskers back in 2011.

Chris Gayle was drafted into the Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for Dirk Nannes and made the tournament all his own.

Young Kochi seamer Prasanth Parameswaran bore the brunt of the Gayle assault at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

He ran in hard but was pounded every time. Four sixes and three fours, and one no ball to boot, Gayle looted 37 runs from that over, a colossal achievement which might never be surpassed.

#2 Highest first innings score

Once again, it was Chris Gayle, once again it was Royal Challengers Bangalore, but this time it was against the Pune Warriors India.

On the back of a marauding Chris Gayle, Royal Challengers Bangalore smashed a hapless Pune bowling all over the park as they looted 263 runs batting first.

Gayle was in the zone as he took all the Pune bowlers to the cleaners and looted 21 runs off Ishwar Pandey and 28 off Mitchell Marsh.

263 runs, and Pune Warriors were slammed out of the competition, 133 runs were all that they could muster, and thus, RCB won the match by 130 runs.

#1 Highest individual score

Chris Gayle sauntered out, took guard, and then smoked Pune for 17 sixes - the other players hit four more - as RCB posted 263 runs.

Gayle was in the zone as he smashed his century in 30 balls, and notched up 175 runs which is the highest individual score for any batsman in this particular format.

Pune were already out of the game but then they lost four wickets in the first six overs to all but seal the deal.

Perhaps this is one record which will forever remain untouched!
