Deccan Chargers was one of the 8 franchises to take part in the first edition of Indian Premier League which took place in the year 2008. It was a side that represented the Hyderabad city which won its first title in the year 2009.

Led by Adam Gilchrist, Deccan Chargers won their first IPL title in the year 2009 with some master-class players like VVS Laxman, RP Singh and Andrew Symonds in their squad.

VVS Laxman was expected to be the most integral part of Deccan line-up while batting in the middle-order for his side. He also had a double benefit as he was a local boy from Hyderabad and was playing for his home franchise only.

However, Deccan dropped all the players for the fourth edition of IPL which even included VVS Laxman. Hence, he moved to Kochi Tuskers Kerala side in the year 2011.
