Shaun Marsh, a usually explosive middle-order Australian batsman went unsold at the IPL auction as well. His experience and current form would be something that the teams would be looking for but he only found it a little too late.

During the time of the Auction, it wasn't a surprise that former KXIP batsman Shaun Marsh went unsold but he proved this decision by the teams to be a mistake by hitting a match-winning century at the Adelaide Oval less than a month after the auction on January 15, 2019. In 2019 Shaun Marsh has been a more or less regular in the Australian squad. He has also been included in the Australian 'World Cup' team and if he performs well at the big international event, there wouldn't be much reason for teams to pass on him next year.
