Veteran batter Virat Kohli had a stellar IPL 2025 campaign for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as the franchise finally achieved their 'Ee Sala Cup Namde' dream. In 15 innings, the right-handed batter amassed 657 runs at an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71, with the aid of eight half-centuries.
Four of his fifties came in consecutive matches. It could have been five in a row, but Kohli narrowly missed out on a half-century. Overall, though, he was consistency personified and his stats in IPL 2025 attest the same. The 36-year-old also scored a crucial 43 off 35 in the final even as batters fell around him.

#1 Virat Kohli now holds the record for most 4s in IPL history
Kohli broke the record for most fours in the IPL during the final against PBKS in Ahmedabad. He surpassed Shikhar Dhawan's record, who hit 768 fours in 221 innings between 2008 and 2024.
The 36-year-old now has 771 fours to his name in the IPL from 259 innings, taking him to the top of the list. Kohli and Dhawan are the only batters with 700-plus fours in the IPL. They are followed by David Warner (663) and Rohit Sharma (640).
#2 First batter to cross 600 runs in five different IPL seasons
During his magnificent IPL 2025 campaign, Kohli also became the first batter to score 600-plus runs in five different seasons. The right-handed batter amassed 657 runs in IPL 2025. Before that, he scored 741 runs in IPL 2024, 639 runs in IPL 2023, a record-breaking 973 runs in IPL 2016 and 634 runs in IPL 2013.
KL Rahul held the previous record as he registered 600-plus runs in four different IPL editions. The elegant batter scored 616 runs in IPL 2022, 626 runs in IPL 2021, 670 runs in IPL 2020 and 659 runs in IPL 2018.
#3 First player to score 9,000 runs for a single franchise in T20 cricket
During IPL 2025, Kohli also became the first cricketer to amass 9,000 runs for a single franchise in T20 cricket. The former India captain achieved the feat during RCB's last league match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27.
The seasoned has amassed 8,661 runs from 259 innings in the IPL for RCB. He has an average of 39.54 and a strike rate of 132.85, with eight hundreds and 63 half-centuries. He also scored 424 runs in 14 innings in the now defunct CLT20. Overall, Kohli has notched up 9,085 runs for RCB in T20 cricket.
#4 Most runs against an opponent in IPL
In the IPL 2025 final against PBKS in Ahmedabad, Kohli broke his own record for scoring most runs against a single opponent in the IPL. Following his knock of 43 in the summit clash, he has 1,159 runs to his name against Punjab.
The RCB star features second on the list as well. He has notched up 1,146 runs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the T20 league. Warner (1,134 runs vs PBKS) occupies the third position, while Kohli again makes it to the list in fourth place, with 1,130 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC).
#5 Most 50s in the IPL
Kohli also smashed the record for most half-centuries in the IPL during the recently concluded edition. The right-handed batter scored 54 off 30 balls against LSG in Lucknow to notch up his 63rd half-century in the T20 league and surpass the previous record held by Warner. The Aussie has struck 62 fifties in 184 innings, while Kohli has 63 half-centuries to his credit in 259 innings in the IPL.
The RCB batting superstar already holds the record for having registered most 50-plus scores in the IPL. He has 71 to his name and is followed by Warner (66). Dhawan (53), Rohit (49) and Rahul (45) complete the top five.
