Sandeep Sharma dismantled the DD batting

It seems as though this Indian Premier League has the tendency to provide us with low-scoring encounters. After the Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to cross even 100 twice, Delhi Daredevils have now joined the infamous club.

Batting first, the Daredevils were tormented by the Punjab bowlers as they could score only 67 runs. In response, Punjab’s batsmen, Hashim Amla and Martin Guptill, coasted the ship to the sands of victory with great ease.

Here are 5 memorable moments from the match that don't fade away, quite like the Axe Signature range of body perfumes.

#1 Sandeep Sharma’s start

Prior to this game, the Delhi Daredevils were highly praised for their talent in the batting department which was filled with highly gifted young Indian batsmen. However, against the Punjab franchise, Sandeep Sharma totally dismantled them with his fiery bowling.

The pacer took 4 wickets in his spell of 4 overs while giving away only 20 runs in the process. His victims included the likes of Sanju Samson, Sam Billings, Shreyas Iyer and Kagiso Rabada, the pillars of the Daredevils’ XI.

#2 Axar Patel’s followthrough

Axar Patel picked up the big wickets of Morris and Nair

There are times when the good work of the opening bowlers isn’t capitalised on by the rest of them. However, that wasn’t the case here as Axar Patel did a great job in taking full advantage of the situation that Sandeep Sharma provided.

Bowling in the middle overs, he gave away only 22 runs in his 4 overs while taking the wickets of Chris Morris and Karun Nair.

#3 Varun Aaron’s finish

Varun Aaron ended the Delhi innings swiftly

This was one of those bowling displays that bordered on perfect. While Sandeep Sharma’s great start was perfectly complemented by Axar Patel in the middle overs, Varun Aaron came in and added the cherry on top with a great finish to the bowling innings.

Despite the fact that he bowled only 2 overs, he took 2 wickets and conceded only 3 runs in the process. This ensured a swift end to the innings of the Daredevils.

#4 KXIP openers show how to bat

Guptill and Amla remained unbeaten at the end

When the Daredevils batted, it felt as though the pitch was a potato patch tailor-made for the bowlers to desecrate the batsmen. The likes of Sandeep Sharma, Axar Patel and Varun Aaron wreaked havoc and it seemed like a pitch impossible to bat on.

However, when Hashim Amla and Martin Guptill arrived at the crease, it showed how experience helps in the game. Both of them remained unbeaten and played an array of strokes to show their class against the Daredevils.

While 6 boundaries and 3 sixes helped Guptill to make an unbeaten 50 in 27 balls, Hashim Amla played a reserved role as he ended with 16 runs from 20 balls – winning the match in 7.5 overs and setting a…

#5 New record

Kings XI created a new record after winning by 10 wickets

With this glorious win, the Kings XI Punjab broke a personal record. Before this game, the Kings XI had never won a game with 10 wickets in hand. However, all that changed against a Delhi side that were annihilated by the Punjab bowlers.

Martin Guptill and Hashim Amla’s unbeaten stand helped Punjab win with a dominating margin of 10 wickets. The highest before this was a 9-wicket win in 2008 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
