The Delhi Daredevils and the Gujarat Lions came up against each other in match no. 50 of Vivo IPL 10. This was a battle of bruised egos for both the underperforming teams. After winning the toss, Delhi opted to bowl first. However, Dinesh Karthik’s 40 and Aaron Finch’s 69 powered Gujarat to pose a daunting total of 195.

In reply, Shreyas Iyer’s sensational knock (57-ball 96) ripped through the Gujarat bowlers and helped Delhi win by two wickets. This was Gujarat’s last game of IPL 10. Delhi, meanwhile will play their last against Bangalore.

This was a huge wicket for the Delhi Daredevils. Smith, who was the hero of Gujarat’s previous game could have ripped through the Delhi bowlers once again if he wasn’t run-out. Surprisingly, Smith did not even attempt the dive as Mohammed Shami celebrated his first wicket of the game.

Smith scored a blistering 74 off just 39 balls in the last game to propel the chase, but luck didn’t favor him this time and he had to walk back on 8 runs.

Ishan Kishan looked in good nick for Gujarat

The youngster’s talent was wasted lower down the order in the early stages of IPL 10, but ever since the Lions promoted him to the top, he has shown his immense potential. And we witnessed it again against Delhi.

Amit Mishra struck first ball to dismiss Kishan. The southpaw looked in sublime form till he lasted. In his 25-ball 34, he hit five fours and one six. But he went for a slog sweep to take Mishra on straight away but the top-edge went to skipper Zaheer Khan at short fine leg. Another relief for the Daredevils.

#3 Aaron Finch’s sensational knock

Finch continued to show his worth at the top of the order

Although the Aussie had crossed the 50-run mark just once in this edition of the IPL, he finished off the tournament in style. His 39-ball 69 was marked by six fours and four sixes. No one was spared and that willow swatted and smashed the bowlers into submission. Finch got to his second half-century of the season with an excellent, straight six.

Shami bowled full and straight and the Aussie missed it while trying to make room for himself and whack the ball over long on. He missed out on a century that looked certain with the way he was batting.

Shreyas Iyer, the young man from Maharashtra has been a consistent performer for Delhi over the past few seasons, and this season has been no different. He bats up the order, but has not been able to forge any innings of substance.

However, today he decided to dig in and build an innings for Delhi. He was the lone warrior as wickets kept tumbling at the other end and kept Delhi in the hunt for a long time in the chase against Gujarat Lions. His 57-ball 96 saw fifteen fours and two sixes. He single-handedly anchored the Delhi chase.

#5 Ravindra Jadeja’s fielding

Ravindra Jadeja was at his best in the field

Ravindra Jadeja always makes his presence felt on the field and he has been quite brilliant with direct hits this season. He was like a cat on the prowl at the backward point region and moved around like a dream, to pick up the ball and then throw the stumps down to account for two Delhi batsmen. He first sent back Corey Anderson and then repeated his brilliance against Marlon Samuels to almost thwart Delhi's chase. The Saurashtra-man once again underlined the label of him being one of the best outfielders in the world.
