De Kock is nursing an injury and will play no part in the IPL

One of Delhi Daredevils' star performers in IPL 2016 was Quinton de Kock. But the 24-year-old South African wicketkeeper will play no part in IPL 2017 due to a finger injury which needs to be nursed ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy which will take place soon after the conclusion of the IPL, in England.

South Africa's team manager, Mohammed Moosajee said that de Kock needed at least four to six weeks of recovery. Although he played in the final Test against New Zealand, the nature of his injury has meant that he has had to sit out of IPL 2017.

Moosajee said: "Being a wicketkeeper, every time he catches the ball, the stress goes onto that area. The risk is that if he doesn't have that four to six weeks rest, and he further aggravates it, it could jeopardize his participation in the Champions Trophy."

In this case, at least, country and the major tournament coming up in a couple of months has taken precedence over IPL.
