KL Rahul is considered to be at par with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as far as batting talent is concerned. Rahul has shown glimpses of his talent but has lacked consistency in his international career.

However, he has been simply superb in the IPL. In 2018, playing for the Kings XI Punjab, Rahul scored 659 runs at a stunning average of 54.91 and single-handedly won a lot of matches for the side. He ended the tournament as the 3rd highest run-getter. The opener then backed it up with a solid performance in the T20 series against Ireland and England.

But the Test series against England proved to be detrimental for Rahul. His Test form deteriorated with each match. The 26-year-old got into an off-field controversy when he was banned for making controversial statements on a TV talk show.

Things haven't been rosy for Rahul in the last few months and he isn't even sure of a place in the World Cup team. It will take something special from Rahul to put all this behind and perform like last year.
